Dinner
There are various dinner options on the Island and return transport will be provided by your accommodation from the conference centre to restaurants each evening. Please note that some lodges provide meals in their tariff.
Forum Registration at the LHI Community Markets
A small vibrant community market which offers the opportunity to sample locally made produce or purchase locally handcrafted gifts and souvenirs. The community market was established in 2007 and has become an attraction for tourists whilst also providing the local community with the opportunity to gather together and catch up on the news in a casual relaxed atmosphere. The market will also provide delegates the opportunity to participate by showcasing unique arts, crafts or products from their home islands.
Local musicians will be performing at the market and a sausage sizzle will be held in the afternoon.
Held on the grounds of picturesque Lord Howe Island Central School, the students are ready to take you on a personal tour of their special place of learning. Registration for the forum will take place at the Central School from 2pm Sunday so come along, register and enjoy the markets.
Welcome Reception, Sunday 5.30pm 29th April
The Lord Howe Island board invite forum attendees to a welcome reception at the Lord Howe Island museum. A great networking opportunity and a chance to meet like minded individuals all working towards a similar goal, The future of our Islands.
Tourism Association Representatives
In addition to the official forum program and tourism presentations, delegates attending Australia’s Small Island forum representing a tourism body, will be invited to attend a tourism focused afternoon with the Lord Howe Island Tourism Association. The afternoon will focus on open discussions relating to tourism in regional island destinations. Delegates are encouraged to bring along their strategic plan and marketing plan to share and discuss.
Island Schools Connect
Education in isolated communities can be challenging but certainly has its rewards. The LHI Central School are reaching out to schools from other islands to connect and for children to share experiences. Bring along a short 1-3 minute DVD of your islands school and environment to share at the “island school film fest”. See more
Farewell Dinner, Thursday 4th May
The Lord Howe Island Board invite all delegates to the Lord Howe Island bowling club for a farewell dinner. This will provide further opportunity to network and build on relationships established throughout the week and will make for interesting discussions on the outcomes of the forum.
